(Student) Pausing Tests

Whether or not you can take a break during your test depends on your test settings.

A. Linear Tests (Tests assigned by an instructor)

B. Computer Adaptive Tests

A. Linear Tests:

Whenever you take a linear test through our program, before beginning, you will see your Testing Instructions page. This is where your test’s parameters are conveyed to you. Information like when this test is available to you, if there is a Time Limit, Resume Limit, or if the test must be completed using Platinum Secure Testing.

If there is no Time Limit and no Resume Limit, you can leave and reenter the test as many times as you like while the test is active. However, once the test reaches its End Date and Time you will not be able to reenter your test.

If there is a Time Limit, but not a Resume Limit, you will be able to enter and leave your test as much as you need while your time is counting down (so long as the test has not hit it's end date and time). Once you have used up your allotted time you will not be able to reenter your test.

Note: Leaving a test does not pause the timer. The clock will continue to countdown.

If there is a Resume Limit, but no Time Limit you can leave the test and renter as many times as it states on your instructions page. However, as there is no time limit you could opt to leave the page open on your browser, and as long as it opens it will not count against your Resume limit.

B. Computer Adaptive Tests:

Timed Test: You can exit and return to your test as many times as needed, however, the time will not pause. Once the time allotted is used, you will not be able to return to your test.

Standard (non-timed test): You can exit and return to the test as many times as you like until it is complete.
