Whether or not you can take a break during your test depends on your test settings.

A. Linear Tests:
Before you begin a linear test in our program, you will see your Testing Instructions page. This page explains your test’s parameters, including when the test is available to you, whether there is a Time Limit or Resume Limit, and whether the test must be completed using Platinum Secure Testing.

If there is no Time Limit and no Resume Limit, you can leave and reenter the test as many times as you like while the test is active. However, once the test reaches its End Date and Time, you will not be able to reenter the test.
If there is a Time Limit but no Resume Limit, you can enter and leave your test as often as you need while your time is counting down (so long as the test has not reached its end date and time). Once you have used up your allotted time, you will not be able to reenter your test.
Note: Leaving a test does not pause the timer. The clock will continue to count down.
If there is a Resume Limit but no Time Limit, you can leave the test and re-enter as many times as your instructions page states. However, because there is no time limit, you could leave the page open in your browser, and as long as it remains open, it will not count against your Resume limit.
B. Computer Adaptive Tests:
Timed Test: You can exit and return to your test as many times as needed; however, the time will not pause. Once the time allotted is used, you will not be able to return to your test.
Standard (non-timed test): You can exit and return to the test as many times as you like until it is complete.
