(Preceptor) App

Preceptor- App

Preceptors can access our app to review and approve student documentation in offline situations.

Note: If the preceptor has access to Wi-Fi and a browser on their mobile device, it may be more beneficial to log in through the browser rather than using the app. This eliminates the need to sync the app for retrieving information from the website or for syncing information back to the website, allowing everything to occur in real-time using Wi-Fi.

To locate our App, search the App Store or the Play Store for Platinum Planner. Download the app to your device from there.

A. Preceptor Home

After logging into the app on your mobile device, you will need to select your user role. Depending on your account, Preceptor may be your only option if you do not have any additional student roles associated with it.

The preceptor home provides a quick overview of everything related to your account, including any documentation you may need to review and whether you have completed Preceptor Training. You can click the links on the home screen to access items related to the notifications, or you can click the button in the upper left to access the menu.

Menu:

The menu button located in the upper left corner allows you to access the different tabs.

B. Training

Platinum Educational Group offers training for all EMS schools to utilize with their preceptors. Schools also have the option to create customized training. In the training tab, you may see none, one, or multiple options. If you're uncertain whether you need to complete the training or if there are multiple options, the best action would be to contact the school to find out what they require.

Completing the Training

1. Start by accessing the training either from the home screen or the menu tab.

2. Review each requirement individually. You may need to watch videos or read documents. As you finish each component, checkmarks will appear next to the completed areas, or you will need to mark the circles to show that you have finished the task.

3. Complete the Training Test.  If your school uses the PEG-offered training, you will need to take the Platinum Planner EMS Preceptor Training Program Evaluation.  This text reviews the information given to you from the videos.

4. Complete the Affirmation of Preceptor Orientation and Training by clicking the link and answering the questions.

5. Uploaded Documents. This is where you upload any documents you wish to provide to the school. You will use your photos, so you may need to take pictures or screenshots of the materials you want to submit. Click the Select Image or Camera button in the upper right corner of the page to choose the image. Once an image is selected, you will assign a name to the file. All uploaded files will appear in the lower Uploaded Documents section.

Tabs:

  • a. Documenting: This is any documentation that you have been added to as a preceptor but that the student has not yet submitted for review.
  • b. Ready: The Clinicals tab will default to this option. This is where you can see documentation submitted by the student. (See below for a full description of how to review documentation)
    • Note: If the instructor approves the documentation before you have the opportunity to review it, it will be moved to the Completed tab, and you will not be able to review it.
  • c. Submitted: This is documentation that you have reviewed and submitted to the instructor for their final check-off.
  • d.  Completed: This is documentation that the instructor has reviewed.

The Settings section displays the information related to your account, the app version you have, and options to assist you with any issues that may arise in the app.

12:14 1- settings.png

  • Logged In As: This is the email/username associated with the person logged in.
  • App Version: The version of the app currently being used.
  • Time Zone: The time zone associated with the app.  This information is pulled from your phone.
  • Sync Calendars: This option allows you to sync information from the app to your calendars on your phone.

 Force Push

This compels all the information from the app to be displayed on the website. It is used in situations where you are struggling to have the information stored locally on the app reflected on the main website (browser).

Reload Local Cache:

This is only used if you cannot load your information using the app. Do not use this feature if you have pending changes that need to be added to the server, as they will be deleted upon using this feature.

Diagnostic Mode: This provides additional detail on the status bar during syncing to assist with troubleshooting.

Note: For Force Push, Reload local cache, and Diagnostic Mode, it is a good idea to reach out to Platinum Support for assistance in troubleshooting the issue you are having before clicking either of these buttons.

F. Switch User Mode

This enables you to toggle between your preceptor role and any associated student roles linked to your account.
