(School) Removing a Cohort

There are two ways to remove a cohort from your active cohorts: deleting a cohort and changing the end date to put it in the past. The chosen option depends on whether students have been added to the cohort. Once a cohort has had students added to it, it can no longer be deleted. If deletion is not an option, then the cohort's end date can be changed to the past to make the cohort inactive.

A.  Deleting a Cohort

B. Putting a Cohort in the Past

A.  Deleting a Cohort

Note:  This option is only available to School Administrators for cohorts when no students have ever been added. It is essential to note that simply removing students from the cohort will not enable deletion if students have previously been added.

1. Begin on the main my.platinumed dashboard and click Manage Cohorts on the grey and black active cohorts tile on the left.

Note: You will need access your cohorts through the main dashboard, not an Admin role.

2. Click delete for the desired cohort under Actions.

Note: If delete is not an option, you must use the directions in the next section.

3. Confirm that you want to delete the cohort by clicking ok. Once you click ok, the cohort will be deleted. This action cannot be undone. If you delete the incorrect cohort, the only option is to create another cohort.

B.  Putting a Cohort into the Past:

Note: This can only be done by School Administrators or Cohort Admins.

1. Click on the Manage Cohorts grey and black tile on the main dashboard. This will cause the Manage Cohort Listing section to display.

2. Locate the cohort you want to "remove" and click edit on the right side of the screen.

3. Change the End Date of the cohort to the past.

Note: The end date of a cohort cannot come before the start date. If the start date is also in the future, you will need to change the Start Date to the past first, then change the end date.

4. Save when finished.

Pro Tip: If you are going to be adding or already have a different cohort with a similar or identical name you may also want to adjust the name of the cohort (like adding something akin to "DO NOT USE" at the end) to limit confusion when attempting to pull reports later.

When you return to your Dashboard, you will notice the cohort is no longer listed as active. You can use the toggle active button to view your inactive cohorts, where the cohort can now be found.

Note: All inactive cohorts will be highlighted in yellow, while active ones will remain green.
